Baddass walk through video

Sorry its a bit crap I find using 3d software extremely difficult to understand and produce work, Cry Engine is like next level. Also i have been pressed for time.

2nd Class critique

This morning we got into groups again to talk about our design spaces so we can further refine them. I found the discussion engaging and helpful.

Trying to learn Cry Engine

Cry Engine makes me cry. Its really hard and couldnt load the full building. Also strange coloured letters and codes came up it freaked me out.

Trying to suss out Indigo

Indigo is a rendering plugin for sketch up. It makes your scenes look really nice I might use a few for my final drawings.

Class critique

Today we got put into small groups of 3 and shared our final ideas and sketches to each other. I got some good feed back and have developed my idea slightly.

Initial sketches

Here are my Initial ideas in drawing draft form.

Research

I further researched tattoo parlour shops to gain a deeper understanding of the space inside and the atmosphere. I asked the manager at Sinatra's Customs to take a few photos inside while the artist do their work and he gladly agreed.

REFINE: Tattoo art meets public

I will be carrying on with my tattoo market idea which I like the most.

5 Alternative responses:

  1. Building simulates the physical aspect of tattooing. The walls made out of some malleable material like putty or clay and can be carved to draw. The walls become like skin and you carve it like a tattoo machine carves human skin.
  2. Gallery of flash art and work that different tattoo artist have done. Showcasing individual styles of art and selling their art. Some interaction between artist and the public, maybe like a tour guide of tattoos.
  3. Seminar for the public to attend. Tattoo artists and professional artist that work with tattoos can inform audience about aspects on tattoo art. e.g. information on getting your first tattoo. A stage and projector? A class room or lecture hall?
  4. A workshop for tattoos to be done. Big flexible room with easy move temporary walls, chairs, desks etc. Competitions, workshops for apprentices.
  5. Design space for creating drawings for tattoo body art. Sharing and critiquing works, style advice and research areas. Space like a library, computer room, resources, light boxes and drawing tables.

Research

Concept 3 brainstorm

In my next concept I am designing a space for the meeting of skating and graffiti. Unlike my other spaces this will be a public structure, kinda like a skate park. I want to design a skate park that allows and encourages people to put their street art on them.

My model

I tried to make a model of my 2nd concept, found it quite hard.
